Father Maquette:  1/3 life-size study.  These
will be used as the models for the final piece.

Maquette of the mother.
The final figures will be life-size.

A steel armature supports the sculpture like
a skeleton.  It's padded with styrofoam to reduce the weight by using less clay.

Chicken wire is stretched over the foam to give the clay something to hold on to.

Close-up of the final portrait.

They may still require some touching-up.
